Background Summary

Dr. Izharul Haq is a Professor of Physics and Computer Science. His Ph.D. is from the University of Cambridge, UK. He has an extensive teaching, research and senior-level administration experience. He has served as the President of SZABIST (one of the top university in Pakistan). He has held several other senior-level positions including the Director of Research at the American University in the Emirates, UAE; the Dean at the New York Institute of Technology; Rector at BizTech University, Karachi; head of accreditation at Ajman University of Science and Technology; head of E-learning technologies, Canada. Prof. Haq has worked in UK, Pakistan, Canada, UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

Research Interest summary

My main interest is in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and expert systems in various applications including feature extraction, robotic, protein folding, ion channels, education, mechatronics, signal processing, quantum, DNA computing, optical computing etc.

My current research is related to the use of AI and automation in Equity, Quality and Accountability (EQA) in education. I work on the ROFSET Framework that allows us to achieve the EQA as a total solution. The ROFSET Framework allows us to capture and analysis teaching and learning KPIs (TLKPIs) in real time and non-intrusively. All of this is done through AI algorithms and is fully automated thus bringing objectivity and transparency in all measurements. All current methods used to measure TLKPIs are subjective, hence inaccurate and unreliable.

Current AI Projects

ROFSET: A machine-based (AI) automated Performance Management System (PMS). ROFSET is not a Learning Management System (LMS) or Content management System such as Broarworks, BlackBoard, Moddle, Canvas etc. ROFSET can be used in secondary and tertiary education systems and is totally aligned with Outcome Based Learning (OBL) theories.

I am also working on using the ROFSET Framework for the UNSDG 4 (Quality Education) and in particular for the Out-of-school-children (OOSC)

Personal skills

I have lived in the U.K since the age of five, lived in Canada for six years, two years in Africa and fourteen years in the UAE. Hence I am very much accustomed to people of various background, culture and tradition and enjoy working with them. I am a dedicated, focused, pragmatic and a well organized individual with excellent communication skills. My passion is teaching, research, management and social entrepreneurship.
